Learning to ski a bigger area

Resorts

There many resorts all over the world that we continue to ski throughout the years with our clients. We have listed a few of our personal favorites, as well as those that our clients request more frequently, for you to see.

We assure you that regardless of where it is you decide to ski, we can show you the best way to enjoy the particular mountain region, where the best snow is during the time of season you are there and where the most fun can be had!

A quick word on Resort Knowledge:

Don’t be fooled!

The Alps have enormous areas to ski. Numerous interconnected resorts that are literally vast in scope, making it very easy for even highly experienced skiers to become lost and disoriented, due to the great distances and numerous different varying mountain exposures available to ski.

“We have heard many skiers who visit fabulous resorts all over the world, say they didn’t ski this run or that mountain, or that they didn’t think the resort was very good…..going home disappointed.” This always comes as a great surprise to us!

Most often, it’s a matter of the guest not understanding the scale of the region. Misleading them to not experiencing the great skiing available, regardless of their level of skiing.

With many years of intimate knowledge and local experience, we guide you safely and efficiently around the resort of your choice maximizing your skiing pleasure!

Chamonix

Skiing in Chamonix The base of operations for Mark and Denis since 1977. Chosen for its vast challenging, steep mountain terrain which borders Switzerland & Italy and sharing Europe’s highest mountain. Chamonix offers enthusiastic skiers a gateway to the Alps that must be experienced!

Chamonix is ideally situated for us to continue sharing our love of skiing with our clients, at any of the dozens of fabulous resorts throughout the Alps and indeed, around the world. Being within a short 2 hour drive, to most other large popular resorts such as Zermatt, Saas Fee, Verbier, Courchevel, Val d’Isere, Les Arcs, Gstadd, Megeve, and 2 major international airports of Geneva & Milan!

Chamonix is a very challenging area, no matter how accomplished or experienced you already are and is ideally suited to skiers wishing to become accomplished in Free Riding, competent on steep & off piste, variable snow conditions, with speed! Some excellent beginner slopes as well, for the first timer with the most magnificent scenery anywhere in the Alps! Excellent X-C Skiing opportunities also available! Excellent!

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Chamonix, we can recommend our friends Tom & Sarah at Chalet Lounge

Zermatt

Vast and offering huge amounts of truly unlimited skiing possibilities, Zermatt is one of our favorite resorts and one of the consistent big favorites with all of our clients!!

Like all of the resorts we‘ve listed, we know Zermatt very well and can guarantee a fabulous skiing experience, with some of the most spectacular views of any ski resort on earth!! Very long groomed runs joining the 6 different mountains on the Swiss side and the seemingly endless interconnected skiing on the Italian side, make this a must for any skier! Never ski the same run twice and still not see the entire region after a week of intense skiing!.. No Kidding!

Heli Skiing on vast Glaciers, and of course the famous Matterhorn for a view, as you ski the very long runs down to the valley! Truly Fabulous! Outstanding!

Verbier

Verbier was home for Denis for 16 winters before coming to Chamonix. There is no one who knows Verbier better!…and you may find out that Verbier knows no one better than Denis!

Great atmosphere, vast terrain, stunning views, superb grooming and off piste to satisfy every level of skier!

Some of our most memorable skiing has been here on Monday mornings with our groups under sunny skies with knee deep powder and NO people! Excellent!

St. Anton

Austria is home to the sport of skiing and St. Anton is world renown for long runs, with 6 different mountains interconnected to cruise on. Excellent grooming, terrain variety and off piste expanses. Truly a skiers paradise of great Alpine energy and always great snow conditions! Another big favorite for us both. It has very long runs for high speed carving that glues the smiles in place for the whole day! Excellent!

Lech / Zurs

The Arlberg home and roots of skiing, full of old world charm that the locals extend warmly and generously all over the villages and up on the slopes. Skiing as it should be, with fresh powder tracks skied until the very end of the day and enough for everyone! It is always a real treat to ski these fabulous areas which are also connected to St. Anton. Literally many, many miles of skiing to experience each day and fabulous for low end intermediate skiers to experts! Plus the absolute best Apple Struddle in the World!

Very pretty X-C Skiing trails along the river as well! Excellent!

Val d’Isere / Tignes

These 2 vast French resorts are connected offering many days of seemingly endless exploring on your skis that will take you across terrain that is very well suited to low end intermediates to expert skiers. Stunning hidden off piste, uncrowded bowls, over a dozen different mountain faces to explore as you cruise the hundred of miles of slopes available! A fast skiers playground for working on relaxed gliding skills and enjoying very long runs! Great place for big groups of intermediates looking for thrills and excitement and acquiring new skills!! Great!

Les Arc / La Plagne

Now interconnected, these huge ski areas offer just about everything a skier could ask for. All levels of skiers like the skiing here! From the world s fastest speed skiers to beginners on their first ski experience. Miles and miles of good grooming, steep couloirs, and very long runs are all to be found here in this vast resort. An old favorite of ours where it is still possible to try your hand at speed skiing on the actual speed course used for setting the current World Speed skiing record. Great!

Alagna / Gressoney

This is a hidden more obscure region, that most skiers have heard very little about. Very Charming, tiny villages at the base of some of Europe’s biggest mountains! Interconnected to a vast region of lifts that span 2 countries. It is very easy to get lost here and your skiing skills need to be adventurous advanced intermediate to expert, to really enjoy the entire regions offerings. However there are many, many opportunities for beginners and less experienced skiers to have a great ski vacation on the well groomed slopes while enjoying the very friendly locals! We offer a special Multi Resort Tour including Heli Skiing from here. Outstanding!

Engelberg

This is a very little known, but excellent resort in the heart of Switzerland that only our best friends and favorite “expert” clients, usually get to ski with us….. Why?… Because it’s still undiscovered by the herds! Big, has consistent deep snow conditions. The off piste make this an experienced free riders paradise. It’s a little harder to get to regardless of what direction or airport you come in from. A small village, for the die hard skier looking for a taste of the old days with the new ways. An excellent place to ski with your best ski pals and a good mountain guide! Very, Very Good!

Davos / Klosters

Another world renown classic. This is where the longest ski run in the world is, 26km! Six separate mountains with over half of them interconnected and the others across the valley a short 3- 4 minute stroll. Fabulous off piste skiing and another vast area where it is very easy to become disoriented. Long runs and good energy on the mountain. The village is the largest city in the Alps and is indeed a city! Fabulous X-C skiing as well! Very, Very Good!

Saas Fee

Skiers looking for a good tilt to the table and a place to run high speeds with a little more demand on technical skiing are in for a treat at Saas Fee. Long runs from high altitudes, with some of the most consistent, good snow year after year, is found here. Like its neighbor Zermatt, Saas Fee is a car less small village at the base of some very impressive mountain terrain. Not as big as most of the other resorts listed here, but a good area to come and ski hard for 2-3 days and work on technique. I like it very much and enjoy each day I ski here. There are many fabulous ski touring adventures that can be had from here as well! Good!

Courchevel & Les Trois Vallee

Haute cuisine of French skiing! This is one of the largest interconnected ski resort areas in the world! It takes a good fast skier, all day to make it from one end of the region to the other and back, without ever skiing the same run twice, without stopping!

Vast in terrain. With dozens of lifts and many, many miles of well groomed interconnected runs. This is a fabulous area for beginners and advanced skiers to experience big mountain ski resorts, excellent terrain for learning on and an ideal area to use for graduating to some of the more challenging resorts of the Alps! Good!
